| In the heart of Tuscany, between Firenze and Siena, it is sited the town of Barberino, with its Hystory and its Legends. It is a Hystory which is still readable thanks to the many architectural evidences sited on the territory. The town is surrounded by the high and solemn Colle di Semifonte wich is bare and austere at the same time; it is the remembrance of the Ghibelline pride, which dared to challenge the rising star of Firenze. "Firenze fatti in lą, che Semifonte si fa cittą" was the refrain which echoed through the walls of Firenze. Semifonte started to be a city, in fact it was enclosed by three kilometers of wall. Firenze's reaction was violent and furious, Semifonte was conquered and destroyed and for centuries it was forbidden to build on the Colle. Today, after that explicit sign of Florentine power, a cupola it is set on the top of the hill. It is identical to the famous Cupola del Brunelleschi in Firenze, but it is eight times smaller. |
